About
Stupa Project Backstory
_
In April 2023, the beloved master Lama Zopa Rinpoche made a sudden last minute decision to visit Rachen Nunnery in the remote Tsum Valley, his final journey before sadly passing away. Welcomed like a Dharma king, Lama Zopa shared two last wishes with our teacher Geshe Tenzin Zopa while in Tsum: to make Rachen Nunnery a sanctuary for preserving Tibetan wisdom and conducting spiritual retreats and to build a seven-story stupa as a beacon of hope.
Construction is underway and funds are needed to complete the project within two years. READ MORE about the Stupa, and what we stand to gain when engadging in Dharma service with the correct motivation. Immense benefits for ourselves and others is possible, when even one hand full of sand is reverently placed in its foundation.

Tsum Valley
Discover the Sacred Beyul
The Tsum Valley is considered a Beyul -- a hidden realm filled with Dharma relics left by eighth-century Indian saint Padmasambhava, accessible only to those with pure perception and virtuous motivation. According to legend, the location of these hidden realms is kept secret on scrolls safeguarded inside caves, monasteries, and stupas. Buddhist texts describe these valleys as Dharma paradises where spiritual realization is accelerated.

Now under the care of Kopan Monastery and the FPMT organization, with supervision by Geshe Tenzin Zopa, the nuns, and monks of Rachen and Mu continue to embody the universal compassion of the deity Chenrezig, earnestly following the example of hidden yogis and mahasiddhas of the lineage including the late Drukpa Rinpoche, Geshe Lama Konchog, Khen Rinpoche Lama Lundrup, and Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
